Find the real Google Search rankings with Scroogle

Searching on Google for rankings is good way to know the rank but it may not be the exact rank you are looking for. Also the search rank may not be the same for the entire surfer. This happens due to the adaptation of “Personalized Search” by Google during the search. Some of the main factors are IP address; the language used in computer, past search history etc.

“Personalized Search” is available for signed-in users as well as signed-out users. This enables for customized search results based upon 180 days of search activity linked to an anonymous cookie in the browser. Hence, Google will artificially increase the rankings of the website you often search for.

Skype and XAMPP port conflict

XAMPP is a free and open source cross-platform web server package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.

Skype is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users within the Skype service are free, while calls to both traditional landline telephones and mobile phones can be made for a nominal fee using a debit-based user account system.

Type anywhere in language like Nepali, Hindi with Google Transliteration IME

For those people whose native language is not English and want to use own native language over internet must benefit from this Google service.

Google Transliteration IME is an input method editor which allows users to enter text in one of the supported languages using a roman keyboard. Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script. Note that this is not the same as translation — it is the sound of the words that is converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning. Converted content will always be in Unicode.

Two Useful Youtube Hacks

Do you utilize YouTube to host videos you create and want to share with the world at the best quality?  Has someone else created a YouTube video, but you are only interested in a portion of it for your blog or website?    Here are 2 tips that help ensure your audience has a better YouTube expereince:

Tip 1. Forcing the browser to use the High Quality version of the video

You may notice just under the lower right coner of the video window, some videos have an option to “Watch In High Quality”.  By default, these videos will play as a 320×240 FLV file at 320Kb/s.  Check out this sample:
